YouTube videos for SaaS CRM

YouTube videos are a useful and relatively simple way for SMEs dealing in SaaS CRM such as MarketDeveloper to promote their company, explain in more detail about the product and address any technical difficulties current clients may be experiencing.

What our aims were

Our intention was to provide a clear and useful demonstration of our SaaS CRM Package, following the classic “show don’t tell” ethos. No matter how articulate a description on a website or over the phone, people get a much clearer idea of what the system is capable of when they see it happening as opposed to being given an explanation.

Videos also work well for troubleshooting, if a current client has an issue it is useful to show them a video addressing that issue. Recently we had a couple of questions regarding the merging of two contacts together, which allows clients to remove a duplicated contact whilst keeping the pertinent data. Creating a short YouTube video meant we could send a link to a helpful clip explaining what to do, rather than engaging in a series of phone calls.

MarketDeveloper offers a self service SaaS crm option and videos can be a useful compromise, allowing us to provide a helpful solution without requiring the client to sign up to a managed account.

How to Produce a Good Video

Producing a product demonstration doesn’t have to cost the Earth. We used Blueberry BB flashback, a relatively inexpensive screen recorder that also offers good editing functionality, including the ability to highlight the screen, add annotations and insert other video and sound clips. After recording a demonstration we added a voice over and a basic introduction on Windows Movie Maker.

We found that the best approach is to keep it short and simple. Most people don’t want to be overwhelmed by a product demonstration that attempts to show off every bit of functionality, nor do they want sit through a ten minute sales pitch. The videos should be functional first.

How Videos can help

Aside from being useful to both prospective and current clients, good videos can give your website a more professional feel. Having a multimedia element can really make an SME website stand out and search engines will often reward websites that have more interesting content. It also gives companies the opportunities to create more external links to their website.
